Jhyaure is a collection of card games inspired by traditional Nepali childhood experiences; riddles, proverbs, tongue twisters, and the laughter of family gatherings. We have taken these familiar cultural elements and turned them into modern games that are easy to play and full of energy.
Each game in the Jhyaure set is built around a different aspect of Nepali oral tradition. What Is Jhyaure?

The Three Games
Paltaune Paheli
Paltaune Paheli is a card-matching game based on the traditional "gaun khane katha"; Nepali riddles that usually begin with a clever description and end with a surprising answer. In this game, one set of cards has the riddle, and the other has the answer. Players take turns flipping two cards at a time, trying to match the correct riddle to its answer. It’s a memory challenge as well as a test of cultural recall. This game is calm, thoughtful, and works well for both kids and adults who enjoy solving puzzles.
Bolchha Bhulchha
Bolchha Bhulchha is the most energetic game in the Jhyaure set. It revolves around tongue twisters; phrases that are difficult to say quickly and correctly. Players pick a card and try to say the tongue twister without stumbling. If they fail, they must perform a dare listed on a separate card. There are also ‘wild cards’ that add surprise actions or twists to the game. This game is ideal for groups, especially those who enjoy laughter, movement, and unpredictable turns. It brings out loud voices and even louder reactions.
Ukhaan Charades
Ukhaan Charades combines the classic game of charades with Nepali proverbs, or “ukhaans.” Players must act out a proverb without speaking, while their team tries to guess the correct phrase. An alternative way to play involves clue cards which has symbols and objects that hint at the meaning of the proverb. This game encourages creativity and teamwork. It’s especially fun in a classroom or family setting, where people of different generations can try to interpret or remember old sayings.
